The Wishbone Boys
Buffy (Beverly Davis) Donlon is a 1973 graduate of the University of Alabama, whose family spans five generations and 34 UA graduates. As a toddler she played under the shadow of Denny Chimes, met the first of many Alabama football coaches, Hank Crisp, and was forever marked as belonging to the Crimson Tide.
Both her father, Fred Davis Sr. ‘41, and brother Fred Davis Jr. ’65 were linemen, tackles to be exact. Her father went on to play 11 years in the pros, four as All Pro with the Chicago Bears, and is enshrined in the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. Her mother, Doris Jefferies was a Corolla Beauty, whose countenance was legend. Buffy’s life has been closely bound to the University, as she serves on her college’s Leadership Board, has been honored for her career in interior design , is a supporter of The A-Club and Nick’s Kids, and is a member of the Denny Society.
But…..it has still been All About Football!!! Football players, coaches, bowl games, recruiting, championships, disappointments and celebrations…..and now comes the WishBone Boys Film. As executive producer Buffy is challenged with bringing this wonderfully unique period in University of Alabama football history to a national audience. Roll Tide Roll!
